I am alive and well! The first few days in Costa Rica have been overwhelming, exciting, funny, and definitely humbling. Today at the feria, an open-air market in my neighborhood, I realized how patient and understanding my madre de Costa Rica is when I couldn't understand most of what my new friend, Laura (who is 4 years old) said! Though my Spanish is better than I thought it would be, I have a long way to go!
I am so glad I'm here and I'm so grateful for my Costa Rican family! They have been so kind and patient to me. Yesterday mi madre and I were laughing as we watched telenovelas, soap operas, and my padre has ingrained in me that the best futbol team in Costa Rica is Saprissa!
I don't have much time to blog, but hopefully I'll be able to post mini-updates like this!
